
Ron Cha is a Pianist, Producer, Composer and Educator from Assam, India. Ron has had a Western Classical Piano background for 15 years and then crossed over to Jazz, RnB and Gospel music. Ron is recipient of the 1st A.R. Rahman 100% Full Scholarship to Berklee College of Music. He has toured America, Europe and Asia with artists such as Lizzy McAlpine, Ferenc Németh, Gregory Tardy, Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Stephanie McKay and his own projects as a bandleader. He has performed and recorded alongside many great artistes such as Laufey, Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Lionel Loueke, Dennis Montgomery III, Philip Lassiter, Ferenc Németh, Stephanie McKay, Jasper Blom, Benjamin Herman and many others. He has attained accolades from many renowned artists such as Anomalie, Domi, Rob Araujo, Ed Saindon, Shankar Mahadevan, Clinton Cerejo, Dhruv Ghanekar, Vishal Dadlani and Loy Mendonsa.
Ron is a pioneer in fusing Assamese folk music and jazz along with singer Kalpana Patowary, guitarist Lionel Loueke and drummer Ferenc Nemeth. This unique album is titled Maati which was released globally in May, 2022. Internationally, he has performed at the Sunset/ Sunside Jazz Club in Paris, the
prestigious Caux Theater, Switzerland, NCPA Mumbai, SXSW, Austin, Sculler’s Jazz Club, Boston and has toured around Spain with Ferenc Németh and Gregory Tardy. In 2013, Ron scored the highest score in the Trinity College of Music Advance Recital Certificate Classical Piano Examination in India. In 2021, the prestigious Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music in Chennai hired Ron as the piano faculty position at the young age of 23 and continues to teach students all over the world privately. In addition to his performing career, he is also an active film composer in the Netherlands and has written music for Jon Karthaus’ Fijn Weekend and The Dadchelor as well as worked on commercials with brands such as Rituals. Ron is currently based in Amsterdam, Netherlands and performs regularly in the Dutch jazz scene.
